LICENSE RENEWAL

  • License renewal date is the last day of agent’s birth month, every two years. Even birth years renew every even year. Odd birth years renew every odd year.

  • Self-Study Courses
  • Online Courses
  • An Instructor can earn the same number of credit hours as a student

COURSE SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ethics requirement of 3 (three) hours for licensees.
  • Credit for courses that are approved for specific license class may be taken for CE credit.

ANNUITY REQUIREMENT

  • Effective December 28, 2020: Licensees who sell annuity products will need to complete an annuity course that includes the new Best Interest rules.
  • Licensees who have already completed a 4-hour annuity course prior to 01/01/2021 may complete a 1-hour annuity best interest course shall, within 6 months (June 29, 2021), complete the new 4-hour annuity best interest course.
  • Licensees who have not completed a 4-hour annuity course must take the annuity best interest course prior to selling annuities.

LONG TERM CARE REQUIREMENT

  • Initial 8-hour LTC training requirement: Before selling, soliciting or negotiating LTC insurance products in Arkansas, producers must complete an initial 8-hour, state-approved LTC training course
  • Ongoing 4-hour LTC training requirement: After meeting the initial training requirement, producers must complete 4 hours of state-approved LTC training in every 24-month period following the initial training

CARRYOVER REQUIREMENT

  • Up to twenty-four (24) credit hours can be carried over to the next compliance period. Any hours above the needed for the next requirement year will be lost. Excess ethics hours carry over as general credits in the next license term.

COURSE REPETITION

  • Credit will not be given for a course that is repeated within 2-years of its original completion date. This includes ethics.

FINAL EXAM

  • Self-study exams must be proctored by a Disinterested Third Party who has no family or financial relationship to the licensee. Proctors must provide an affidavit attesting under oath or affirmation that the exam was proctored and was provided in a manner specified by the course provider. Specific Monitor Affidavit Needed (Appendix G).

EXEMPTIONS

  • Any person who is licensed in the state of Arkansas less than one year upon renewal.
  • Any individual, licensed as a resident producer prior to July 1, 2003, who is at least sixty (60) years of age or who has held a license as a producer, insurance consultant or broker for a period of at least fifteen (15) consecutive years.
  • Individuals in their first full year of licensure following the year they made a change in residency or domicile to Arkansas.
  • Third party administrators who do not solicit business or non-resident license holders in good standing in their home state.
