LICENSE RENEWAL

  • License renewal date is the last day of the licensee’s birth month.

COURSE SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS

  • Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
  • Three (3) hours of ethics each compliance period.
  • Two (2) hours of State Legislative Update or Federal Legislative Updates each compliance period.

ANNUITY REQUIREMENT

  • Effective September 1, 2023, Producers who hold a life insurance line of authority, who were not engaged in the sale of annuities prior to September 1, 2023, and who desire to start selling annuities must complete an approved four (4) hour annuity training course within six (6) months after September 1, 2023 (no later than February 29, 2024). A Producer who fails to complete the training by this deadline must immediately cease selling annuities until the training is completed. Producers who obtain a life insurance line of authority on or after September 1, 2023, shall not engage in any annuity sales until they successfully complete an approved four (4) hour annuity training course. Producers who have completed the current Department approved “Annuity” training course prior to November 1, 2023, must complete one of the following options within six (6) months after November 1, 2023 (no later than April 30, 2024): A new four (4) credit hour training course approved by the Department, or a new one (1) credit hour training course approved by the Department. The new one (1) credit hour training must cover topics, including, but not limited to: appropriate sales practices, replacement, and disclosure requirements under the amended regulation. Producers who satisfy annuity training requirements of another state will be considered compliant with the Oklahoma training requirements if the other state’s training requirements are substantially similar to the Oklahoma requirements set forth in OAC 365:25-17-7.1. Producers will also be considered compliant if they satisfy components of training requirements of any other course(s) if such components are substantially similar to the requirements set forth in OAC 365:25-17-7.1.

LONG TERM CARE REQUIREMENT

  • Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC insurance products in Oklahoma, producers must complete an initial 8-hour NAIC LTC course.
  • After completing the 8-hour initial training requirement, producers must complete 4 hours of LTC training every 24-month period.

CARRYOVER REQUIREMENT

  • Up to 6 credit hours can be carried over to the next compliance period. Excess hours may also be applied to bring a lapsed license into compliance. Hours that are carried over will be applied as general credit.

COURSE REPETITION

  • Credit will not be given for a course that is repeated less than 24 months from the completion date of the original course. A producer or adjuster may repeat a course after two (2) years have elapsed and receive the maximum credits designated for the course.

FINAL EXAM

  • The final exam is closed-book, and no outside information may be used to complete the exam. Exams do not require a monitor.

EXEMPTIONS

  • Limited licenses.
  • Non-residents whose home state is reciprocal with Oklahoma and whose home state CE requirement is the same or greater than Oklahoma.
