WISCONSIN STATE REQUIREMENTS

LICENSE RENEWAL

  • License renewal date is the last day of the licensee’s birth month. CE must be completed and posted prior to the licensee’s expiration date.

COURSES ACCEPTED FOR CE CREDIT

  • Classroom Courses
  • Self-Study Courses
  • Online Courses
  • Instructors will receive the same amount of credit hours as the students. Duplication rules apply.

COURSE SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS

  • Three (3) hours of ethics each compliance period.

ANNUITY REQUIREMENT


Effective October 1, 2022, licensees who sell annuity products will need to complete an annuity course covering the NAIC Best Interest Standards.

  • Licensees who have already completed a 4-hour annuity course prior to 10/01/2022 may complete a 1-hour annuity best interest course or complete the new 4-hour annuity best interest course. Licensees will only have until 04/01/2023 to be able to take the 1-hour course.
  • Licensees who have not completed an annuity course must take the 4-hour annuity best interests course prior to selling annuities. Residents and non-residents who have completed this training in another state with laws similar to Wisconsin’s law will be compliant with the requirement.

LONG TERM CARE REQUIREMENT

  • Initial 8-hour LTC training requirement: All health producers who sell, solicit, or negotiate LTC insurance products in Wisconsin, must complete an initial 8-hour, state-approved LTC training course containing 2 hours of WI specific Medicaid and LTC information.
  • Ongoing 4-hour LTC training requirement: After completing the initial 8-hour training requirement, LTC health producers must complete 4 hours of state-approved LTC training course containing one (1) hour of WI specific Medicaid and LTC information every 24-month period following the completion of the initial training requirement.
  • Non-residents who have completed LTC training in another state will satisfy the WI requirement except that they must take 2 hours of the WI specific Medicaid and LTC information.

CARRYOVER REQUIREMENT

  • Credit hours may not be carried over to the next compliance period.

COURSE REPETITION

  • Credit will not be given for a course that is repeated within a compliance period.

FINAL EXAM

  • An approved proctor is an impartial, disinterested third party or currently licensed agent with no family or financial relationship to the student. The proctor shall verify the agent’s identity and complete an affidavit supplied by the approved provider testifying that the agent received no outside assistance. Membership in a professional association / organization does not constitute a financial relationship.
  • Specific Monitor Affidavit needed.

EXEMPTIONS

  • Non-residents who are compliant with CE requirements in their home state.
  • Limited licensees.
